Hill College Men’s Rodeo Team wins rodeo at Texas A&M-Kingsville

Hill College men’s rodeo team won the college rodeo at Texas A&M-Kingsville Feb. 22-23, earning 680 points. Panola Junior College placed second with 395 points and McNeese State University was third with 365. This big win has now moved Hill College into second place in the Southern Region standings, just 462 points behind the leader, Panola Junior College.

Bareback rider Colby Fedor, a sophomore from Grandview, won the long go-round with an 81-point ride, won the short go-round with an 83-point ride and won the average. Saddle bronc rider Parker Fleet, freshman of Axtell, won the long go-round with an 80-point ride, was third in the short go-round with 77 points and won the average. Jarrod Hammons, sophomore from Stephenville, placed fourth in the long go-round with at 75-point ride, placed second with a 78-point ride and won third in the average of the saddle bronc riding.

Hill College dominated in the tie-down roping with several ropers landing on the leader board. King Pickett, a sophomore from Jackson, Miss., had the second fasted time in the long go-round with a time of 8.4 seconds, won the short go-round with an 8.9-second run and won the average. McCoy Profilli, a sophomore from Anderson, placed fifth in the long go, short go, and average. Cooper Mathews, a sophomore from Cleburne, placed third in the long go, making the short go and ended up sixth in the average. Tyler Zebrovious, a freshman from Fredonia, Pa., was fourth in the long go-round, missed in short go, but earned team points with seventh in the average.

In the team roping, heeler Profilli was third in the long go-round, won the short go-round and the average, earning him second in the all-around cowboy standings for the rodeo. He ropes with header Wyatt Muggli of Texas A&M-Commerce.

From the women’s rodeo team, Maci Ray, a sophomore of Mabank, qualified for the short round in the breakaway roping.

The next college rodeo is March 15-16 at Texas A&M University at the Brazos County Expo Complex. The Hill College home rodeo is April 5-6 in Hillsboro and the last rodeo of the year will be April 26-27 at Wharton County Junior College.
